The NGOs for Fisheries Reform (NFR), through consultations with member NGOs and partner NGOs and POs, developed the Just Energy Transition for Fisheries and Coastal Communities Framework (JETFCC), to serve as a guide for coastal communities, fisherfolk organizations, NGOs, government agencies, local government units, and developers in establishing and managing offshore/onshore renewable energy facilities.
The five basic principles towards the attainment of a just, successful and comprehensive transition to sustainable energy:
- Meaningful Stakeholder Participation.
- Equitable Distribution and Access
- Energy efficiency and conservation under Renewable Energy (RE)-powered coastal ecosystems.
- Integrity of Natural Marine and Coastal Ecosystems Preservation.
- Decentralized and Democratic.
